Helston Climate Action Group are hosting a Community Envisioning Event at the Old Cattle Market on Saturday 8th June.
What would a carbon neutral Helston look like? How do we get there by 2030 in a way that no one and nothing is left behind? That is what this event will be exploring.
About this Event
We’ve all seen the headlines. We know we are facing a climate & ecological emergency. We know we need to be carbon neutral by 2030.
But what kind of future would we like for our community? And how do we get there in a way that no one and nothing is left behind?
This journey needs all of us. We all have a role to play. Come join us in our collective imagining, and help shape a way forward for Helston, to carbon neutrality and a brighter future for all.
This event is being organised by Helston Climate Action Group working with Helston Town Council. We hope as many people from our community as possible will be able to attend.
During the day we will be asking people what they would like to see happening in our community or in different places within the town. What is important to the people of Helston? What positive & inspiring things are already happening in our community that we can build on?
Morning session (10-12) – drop-in session open to everyone. There will be creative activities for children led by artist Lucy Grant.
Afternoon session (12-4) – free workshop that we encourage people to book onto. During this session we will pull everyone’s ideas & suggestions together to create a community vision of Helston in 2030, and then explore how we want to get there. This event will feed into Helston’s climate action plan..
To find out more about climate change please watch the recent documentary by Sir David Attenborough: Climate Change – The Facts (on BBC iPlayer)
Please bring any questions you might have about the future and a willingness to ask “Imagine if…?”
If you are unable to attend but would like to contribute ideas and suggestions, please email climateactiongroup@helston-tc.gov.uk
